Tortora, Annie

My work is inspired by the natural world, energised by Japanese aesthetics, and aims to
connect to the sense of touch.
Using traditional hand-building techniques, I make small-scale bird forms, functional
pieces and decorative products; most ideas emanate from my leafy garden.
Connected to ceramics for over 35 years teaching it in FE and NHS well-being arts, I
practised as a maker for pleasure and for my own creative development and
sustenance. As my teaching commitments reduce, I am devoting more time and attention to
working with and creating in clay, which excites and fires me!
