Whiting, Chris

I trained at Carlisle College of Art and Manchester College of Art in the 1960s in 3 Dimensional Design specialising in silversmithing and ceramics. I am now retired having worked as a jeweller and silversmith for 45 years. Since my retirement I have devoted more energy into my passion for ceramics. I am interested in experimenting with surface textures on both thrown and hand built pieces. I have recently been using heavily worked layers of coloured slips and oxides onto the outsides of thown pots to create decorative yet functional tableware.
