Stuttard, Kim

I am a ceramicist based in Blackburn, Lancashire. The work explores texture, colour, form and text. The plate is a common motif, used as a canvas to investigate these themes, including the dynamics of  interacting shapes and colours, the properties of collage and mark making and the incorporation of text as a means of illustrating narrative and the cultural currency of language. The sculptural pieces are focused on interacting and interconnecting forms.
Although they are abstract, they have a figurative quality in that they articulate the interaction of individual elements and how these can shape, mould, and transform each other.
