My hand-coiled, stoneware pots depict the rugged textures, colours and natural forms of the Yorkshire moors, woods and eroding coastline.
Using wild clays, seaweed, rocks, sand and wood ash glazes, I combine traditional pottery techniques and experimental processes, pushing the boundaries of the material.
Through the fusion of ceramics and metalwork, I explore the contrast between natural and man-made, dull and shiny, rough and smooth.
Using organic matter, including dried seaweed, leaves and straw, during smoke firings, I create unpredictable colours and textures on burnished pottery surfaces.
