Casey, Helen

I fell in love with ceramics after attending evening classes at Morley College in Lambeth. I now work from my home studio in Harrogate. I predominantly use sgraffito on terracotta and white stoneware to make functional and decorative items. I love working with text and illustration and my inspirations range from Bronze age beakers to 1970s wrestlers. I used to be a stand-up comedian and I think making ceramics fulfils the same creative urges in me, making silly and interesting things to bring joy into people’s homes.
